This morning was rough. My son, who is a quadriplegic and drives a specially modified van, went to leave and the entire front driver’s side tire fell off. Every single lug nut was gone and the rim and tire were damaged.
We realized someone probably tried to steal the tire during the night, but because the van is modified, a regular jack would not work so they just left it that way. For anyone this would be frustrating, but when you are paralyzed, use a wheelchair, and depend on your van for everything, it becomes a huge challenge.
After a lot of calling around, we finally connected with Jason from On Time Towing in Richmond VA. He showed up with a flatbed truck and immediately got to work. Because the van has a lowered floor, even getting a jack under it was tricky, but Jason didn’t give up. He came up with a clever way to pull the van partway onto the truck bed just so he could get it lifted enough to work on the wheel.
He checked the hub assembly, saw that it was fine, and then offered to put on the spare tire right there so the van would not even need to be towed. Keep in mind it was hot and humid, but he just kept going until it was done. Thanks to Jason’s hard work and determination, my son was able to drive himself to an important event that evening and will be able to get the van repaired on Monday.
Jason, you absolutely saved the day. We are so grateful for you. You rock! 🙌
