I was sitting at a café when I noticed a little boy from my neighborhood walking home. We exchanged a smile, a small but warm moment. As he continued ahead, a car suddenly pulled up beside him. Something inside me felt wrong—an instinct I couldn’t ignore.

Without thinking, I rushed toward the boy. When I got closer, I saw the men in the car talking to him. I asked, “Can I help you?” They looked startled, and then one of them flashed a knife, warning me to leave.

In that instant, fear didn’t matter. I wrapped my arms around the boy and ran—ran without looking back, without stopping to think. All that mattered was getting him away, safe in my arms.

Even now, I shiver when I think of what could have happened if I hadn’t followed that gut feeling. That day, I didn’t just act—I protected a life.
