Sparkle Megan’s Baby News Alters Perspectives

Love Is Blind season 9’s all-time low of a finale felt like it couldn’t get further off-base until I found out that “Sparkle” Megan Walerius may have had a baby in the time since the season was filmed. While Love Is Blind season 9 highlighted Sparkle Megan and Jordan Keltner’s relationship as it worsened, the season also felt like it was rooting for them.

If Netflix is rooting for a Love Is Blind couple in their own edit, there’s usually one of two things happening: these crazy kids make it work, or something’s about to go intensely wrong. Seeing Jordan, whose single father lifestyle doesn’t leave much time for love, in tears after Megan explained their lifestyles didn’t mesh hurt, but the post-season may be more painful for him.

While I think Sparkle Megan was right to choose not to go through with her Love Is Blind wedding with Jordan if she wasn’t fully ready to commit to being his partner and a step-mom, the news that she may have had a baby since the show ended has altered any opinions I may have once held and renewed my understanding of the season’s biggest flaw.

Rumors Of Sparkle Megan’s Possible Motherhood Are Running Rampant

The Love Is Blind Season 9 Reunion Trailer Makes It Seem More Likely

Although nothing has been confirmed, it seems safe to say that if Sparkle Megan didn’t have a baby herself, there’s a baby in her life after Love Is Blind season 9. One of the final moments we as Love Is Blind viewers spend with Megan sees her in a vulnerable moment after breaking things off with Jordan, contemplating if she’s cut out to be a mother.

According to The Sun, Megan was spotted with a mystery man holding a baby out in Denver multiple times over the past few days. While that doesn’t necessarily mean Megan herself had that baby, it’s clear there’s a baby in her life, which more often than not equates to it being hers. With Love Is Blind season 9 having filmed 18 months ago, motherhood is entirely possible.

Love Is Blind Season 9’s Decison To Paint Megan In The Wrong Was Too Much

Struggling With Adopting Jordan’s Lifestyle Was Entirely Valid

While Sparkle Megan having a baby would likely mean she’s found what she was hopeful for during the series, it would also prove Love Is Blind’s most glaring issue. The series chose to paint Megan in a less-than-flattering light on screen as she tried to align her lifestyle with Jordan’s, and though her lavish life wasn’t necessarily the norm, it wasn’t wrong, either.

While Jordan was visibly hurt that Megan felt their lifestyles were tremendously different, it was clear that she was trying to convey she wanted something he wasn’t able to offer. Jordan was clearly fine with compartmentalizing parts of his life to keep a balance between fatherhood and his relationship, but Megan didn’t want some of her partner, she wanted all of them – and that’s okay.

Sharing she had a tough time adopting Jordan’s lifestyle, Megan understood that his son was a piece of the puzzle she couldn’t quite make fit. Yes, that hurts, but while Megan has her faults, not being able to jump into stepmotherhood in a matter of weeks isn’t one of them. If she was feeling tremendously confident about it so fast, I’d be far more concerned.

Love Is Blind’s Break-Neck Pace May Be The Wrong Choice For The Series

It’s The Whole Point, But It’s Doing More Harm Than Good

Love Is Blind asks its participants to join their lives together in a matter of weeks, and while it can and has worked in the past, there are variables that can obviously make it more difficult for some than others to jump in. Jordan’s single fatherhood wasn’t an issue, but the pacing of the show made it tougher for Megan to feel ready to jump in.

With Megan potentially having taken time to move forward, reassess, and possibly find her own happiness with a baby of her own, it’s clear that the Love Is Blind timeline could be the wrong choice for the series. While it doesn’t need to be dragged out over months, Love Is Blind allowing its participants more time to discover if their lives work together may be the key to success.
