BREAKING: 16-year-old tied to and arrested for more than 100 car break-ins across Maryland is released just hours after his arrest—only to reoffend and arrested again according to police.
Reporter: A 16-year-old boy tied to more than 100 car break-ins across Maryland was just released hours after his arrest, only to be accused of yet another offense. Today, the Laurel Police Department held a press conference providing an update after a large-scale car break-ins spree earlier this month. Now, according to police, 47 break-ins were reported in Laurel, 38 in Prince George’s County, and 17 in Howard County.
Police Spokesperson: “DJAS advised our detectives to release him back into the home then. They noted that he did not have a prior record, although I would offer, well, over 100 cases in one night gives you a pretty good record to go on. So yes, five hours after we were at his house, he was released back into the community, back into the environment that allowed him to be out roaming the streets in all of these counties late at night and in the early morning, doing these crimes to begin with.”
