On April 12, Kyle Semrau, a father of two from Elliot, Maine, felt lightheaded after returning from an overnight shift. The next day, he decided to relax, and his 4-year-old son Caleb and 6-year-old daughter Macie joined him. Later, due to a medical condition, Kyle unexpectedly passed out in the basement while fighting to stay conscious. When Macie heard her father scream, she rushed to help. In a stunning display of presence of mind, she recalled her dad’s phone passcode, unlocked it, searched for “Elliot police,” and dialed 911. After two minutes, the police arrived and took Kyle to the hospital. Kyle called Macie his hero, saying that because of her, she would always be his hero.
