This morning started off with a heart-stopping moment. My son, who is a quadriplegic, went to drive off in his modified van when suddenly the front driver’s side tire fell off. Every single lug nut had come out, and both the rim and tire were damaged. We later realized someone had tried to steal the tire during the night but couldn’t get it off because the van is specially modified and sits much lower than a regular vehicle.
For most people, something like this would be frustrating enough. But when you rely on a wheelchair and your only way to get around is your modified van, it’s more than just an inconvenience—it’s a major setback.
After many calls and a lot of stress, we finally found help. Jason from On Time Towing in Richmond, VA showed up and went above and beyond. Because of the lowered floor, getting the van on the flatbed was tricky, but Jason figured out a way. He carefully rigged a setup to lift the van just enough to get a jack under it and remove the damaged tire.
When he saw that the hub assembly wasn’t broken, he offered to put the spare tire on right there so the van wouldn’t have to be towed. And did I mention it was a hot, humid Virginia day? Yet Jason stayed patient, kind, and determined to get my son back on the road.
Thanks to Jason’s incredible effort, my son was able to make it to an important event this evening. We are beyond grateful. Jason, you are truly a lifesaver! Thank you for your compassion and hard work.
