Quick story…
So, we got married in my grandma and grandpa’s backyard in 2008. My grandma was hesitant to let us because she was worried about all the work it would take to get ready for it. She was a perfectionist (wonder where I get it from😉.) But my grandpa talked her into it and said we’ll get it done! My grandpa worked all summer to build the beautiful paver patio and deck, and grandma made sure her garden and flower pots were looking impeccable!

Little did we know, eleven years later we would be planting the entire acre and 1/2 of their property full of flowers.

This is one of the places that I learned so much about growing a garden and how to create welcoming designs. It’s among these special moments with my grandma that my love of gardening and growing took off.

When we lost my grandma in 2011 to ovarian cancer, our whole family was shaken to its core. My grandpa was, living here alone and started having some health issues. I had been having health issues myself and was having trouble getting over to see him which was breaking my heart. We got together and decided we could help each other out, and continue to carry on all the beauty that my grandma loved to create. So Jared and I, and our pets moved in to be with grandpa and continue growing our flowers.

It’s been the best experience. We get to spend time with him, and he sees grandma in so much of what we do. So many times he’s said, “if grandma was here and saw all these flowers, we’ve have to put a bed out there in the garden for her because she would never want to come in!”😂 He’s a jokester, if you didn’t already know.

Sometimes I can almost hear her voice saying, “move this flower here, or put that plant over there,” and it feels like she’s right here with us guiding me, and hasn’t missed a beat.

There’s so much love that is poured into our flowers, it’s not just the nurturing, and the joy they bring, but it’s also that story behind it. It’s the “why” behind what we 🌸🌸🌸

P.S. I don’t know why we thought this photo would be funny to take, but it’s extra funny knowing that the cart Jared is sitting in is what we’ve used to tow millions of flowers back and forth!😆🌸🚜
