“When it comes to my cancer journey, I followed the standard path. I had surgery performed by a gynecologic oncologist who specializes in ovarian cancer, and thankfully, the procedure went smoothly. I also underwent chemotherapy and experienced 11 months with no signs of disease. Unfortunately, the cancer came back, leading me to go through another round of chemo. It returned once more just eight months later.
Because my cancer was already Stage IV at diagnosis, my oncologist told me that treatment would be a lifelong reality.
That was a heavy truth to process. Not only would I continue managing limited mobility, but I’d also be living with the long-term side effects of ongoing treatment.”
