On Saturday, we picked up a bundt cake at the farmers market bake sale, served on a china plate. I offered to return the plate, but was informed it was part of the purchase.

Back home, I portioned and froze the cake. Washing the plate, I realized:

It was my mother’s china pattern. She believed in using her best things, even her good china and silver, regularly. Her china was well-loved and eventually worn out.

Now, I have a tangible memory. Everyone, don’t save the good china for a special occasion. Use it.
