Joe Scarborough urges defiant Chicago Dems to allow Trump to send National Guard after bloody Labor Day weekend

MSNBC host Joe Scarborough urged Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker to “partner up” with President Trump, saying “radical” moves were needed in the wake of a bloody Labor Day weekend in the Windy City.

Scarborough’s comments Tuesday on “Morning Joe” came days after he appeared to downplay crime in Chicago on his show.

MSNBC host Joe Scarborough wants the governor of Illinois to ‘partner up’ with President Donald Trump in a ‘radical’ bid to clean up the streets of Chicago.

“I actually think that JB Pritzker should do something radical. I think he should pick up the phone, call the president and say, ‘You know and I know you don’t have the constitutional authority to deploy the National Guard here. You can do that in DC. You can’t do that in Chicago. But let’s partner up,’” Scarborough said Tuesday on his “Morning Joe” show.

He slammed Pritzker and Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson for their mismanagement of crime in the city — where 54 people were shot and seven killed over Labor Day weekend alone.

“You know, it would be radical for us to figure out a way to actually do what I’ve been saying from the very beginning in Washington. And that is seeing politicians creating partnerships that protect their people,” he said.

“Because, right now, just the, ‘Hey, nothing to see here. Moving along, no problem here. Hey, Donald Trump, we don’t need you.’ And, you know, the mayor talking about ‘We’re going to protect people’s dignity in our city,’” Scarborough said.

Last week, Scarborough downplayed crime in Democrat-led cities.

“If you look at most crime charts, seven, eight of the top 10 deadliest cities in America, big cities, are usually in red states,” he said Aug. 26.

He added that Americans are “400 times more likely to be killed in Louisiana than in California.”

Johnson has repeatedly refused to accept federal support or to increase police numbers in his city.

Last week, Pritzker threatened to sue the Trump administration if it deployed troops to Chicago, dubbing the move an “invasion.”

Trump doubled down on Tuesday, saying “Pritzker needs help badly, he just doesn’t know it yet.”

“At least 54 people were shot in Chicago over the weekend, 8 people were killed. The last two weekends were similar,” Trump wrote on his Truth Social.

“Chicago is the worst and most dangerous city in the World, by far. Pritzker needs help badly, he just doesn’t know it yet. I will solve the crime problem fast, just like I did in DC. Chicago will be safe again, and soon.”
