Swamp People’s Ashley ‘Deadeye” Jones’ Family Health Crisis Explained

Swamp People star Ashley “Deadeye” Jones is opening up about a tragic event that left her reeling – a family health emergency that led her to ask fans for emotional support, and it’s time to talk about the crisis. Ashley is tough out on the water, where she battles reptiles in Florida, but that doesn’t mean that she doesn’t have a heart. She isn’t a part of Swamp People season 17, but inside this fierce alligator and snake hunter (she appeared in the Swamp People spin-off, Serpent Invasion), there is a tenderhearted woman who worries about her ailing grandmother.

Ashley got her nickname, “Deadeye,” because she rarely misses the target. The sharpshooter owns guns and knows exactly how to use them. She’s excelled in a male-dominated niche. Out on the Everglades, she’s able to bring down fierce creatures thanks to her expert aim. However, off-screen, she’s not afraid to let her softer side show. When she shared information about her grandmother’s illness, it was endearing. The mom of three, who’s married to Chad Jones, a lawyer, really loves her family.

Ashley’s Grandmother Needed An Operation

Ashley Asked Fans For “Prayers”

Ashley. a strong Christian, asked her Instagram followers to pray for her grandma, as per the Instagram post above. Her relative needed “very invasive surgery.” Her grandmother is 90 years old, so any kind of procedure comes with a lot of risks. Possibly, surgeons decided to do a laparoscopic procedure, where surgery is performed via a tube inserted into the stomach, in order to reduce the risk. Ashley posted about her grandma’s health problems before that, not knowing for sure if her relative would actually need the surgery. It turns out that the procedure was necessary.

Ashley’s Grandmother Is Doing Well

She Is Bouncing Back

Ashley was pleased to share a positive update with her family on Facebook, letting her fans know that her grandmother had an unspecified laparoscopic surgical procedure, which went well. She said that her grandma enjoys “the attention.” Ashley thanked her fans for providing emotional support to the elderly woman. She encouraged them to leave more comments. Like her former costar, Swamp People‘s Troy Landry, Ashley’s active online, and enjoys engaging with her fans.

Ashley is grateful that her grandmother is recovering, and the Swamp People alum, who appeared in seasons 10 to 15, is thriving after her stint on the OG show and spin-off. On Instagram, she’s glowing in 2025. Ashley’s had a weight-loss makeover, and looks better than ever, but not because she’s thinner. She seems happier, with glowing eyes, radiant skin and glossy red hair. Yes, she dropped some weight, but the real beauty secret may be sobriety.

It Helps Her To Be Emotionally Present For Her Family

Beauty comes from within, and Ashley’s inner strength is showing on the outside. She’s got a serene quality – a radiance that comes from taking care of her mind, body and spirit. When she was drinking, she needed to deal with so many pressures. Alcoholism can be a terrible disease which triggers health problems, depression, and relationship problems. When people stop drinking, they have more control over their own lives.

Ashley’s always been confident, but now, as a sober woman, she’s even more powerful. Battling her demons did her a world of good.

Like those reptiles out on the water, Ashley fought against something that was threatening – addiction – and she won. She can now put all of her energy and determination into the things that matter most to her… her career, her family and her well-being. The Swamp People star is a great role model.
