A year ago, a man stopped me on a lonely road. His face was covered, and in his trembling hands was a knife. He demanded money.
I was terrified—shaking, my heart racing. I gave him everything I could. But what struck me most was not the knife…it was his eyes. Behind the fear and desperation, I saw tears. Tears I could never forget.
Time passed. One year later, I walked that same road. Suddenly, I saw him again—his face still hidden. My heart froze, expecting the same terror. But instead, he looked into my eyes, reached into his pocket, and handed me double the $100 he once took.
Along with it was a note that read: “Thank you, ma’am. That day, my wife and newborn baby had nothing to eat. I know it’s no excuse to steal, but I was desperate. Today, I’m on the right path, and I wanted to return what wasn’t mine.”
Sometimes life shows us that even in our darkest choices, redemption is possible. His tears that night were real—and so was the change in his heart.
