When K wanted to build one big house again in Flagstaff, Christine was the only wife who flat-out refused. Meri and R didnt seem enthusiastic either, but K blamed her, assuming she just couldn’t stand to see him with Janelle and R. But while that's part of it, it wasn't everything.
She explains that in the Lehi one-house setup (pre-Vegas), she never felt like an equal wife. Her needs and her children’s needs always came after Meri, Janelle, and their kids. She says she never felt like queen wife or queen mom, and that she couldn’t be a couple with Kody anywhere outside their bedroom because “anybody and everybody” could come in at any time. Apparently only Meri could force everyone to stay out of her space.
To Christine, moving to Vegas and into separate houses gave her more equal footing and a sense of privacy that helped her and K finally feel like a couple. Going back to one house wouldn’t just risk seeing K with another wife, it meant returning to a structure that had already been to be emotionally unhealthy for her, as well as unfair. It was about Christine not wanting to be put back in the basement while others lived like queens. Though, at this point Meti would have joined her as basement wife.
Its just interesting seeing Christine speak positively of her time in Vegas while being negative about the pre-Vegas time.
