Dancing With The Stars Season 34’s Major Eliminations Reinvigorate Show

Dancing With The Stars season 34’s been a roller coaster in its first four weeks of competition, and after another shocking elimination, the show’s proven it finally has its spark back after years of rebuilding. Dancing With The Stars season 34, whose cast includes reality TV stars like Whitney Leavitt and athletes like Jordan Chiles, has been a shock thus far.

While viewers have been prepared for eliminations week after week, as is the way of the series, each has been more shocking than the next. As DWTS season 34 has continued, one standout contestant may not be known for his elegant moves, but instead has been saved week after week because of his positive attitude and indelible charm, which have gotten under viewers’ skin.

Comedian Andy Richter and his professional partner, Emma Slater, have absolutely been making progress as the season continues, but for all intents and purposes, should’ve been eliminated from the competition after the first week of dances. While Andy has been learning and growing, seeing others eliminated ahead of him has been a shock, but has signaled a return to form for DWTS.

Hilaria Baldwin Was Eliminated In A Shocking Turn Of Events

She Received A Score Of 23

Although Hilaria Baldwin, who has a dance background and has been open about her experiences getting back into dancing, was in the middle of the pack throughout her four weeks of competition, her elimination was another surprise for the DWTS season 34 cast. After a night of Disney-themed dances that saw most competitors improving, Hilaria and her partner Gleb Savchenko were eliminated next to Andy and Emma.

After last week’s elimination of Fifth Harmony songstress Lauren Jauregui and her professional partner Brandon Armstrong, which shocked viewers despite her somewhat lackluster performance to her group’s hit “Work From Home”, seeing the surprise in the ballroom was even more overwhelming. Dancing With The Stars has long surprised its viewers with eliminations, but after years of rebuilding the show, it was a welcome shock.

Three Weeks Of Shocking Eliminations Means DWTS Is So Back

The Show Has Always Been Meant To Surprise Viewers

Dancing With The Stars always had charm and appeal as a competition series, but after Tom Bergeron wasn’t asked back as the host for DWTS season 29 and things were revamped under Tyra Banks’ leadership, longtime viewers struggled with the end product. From the show shifting gears with its hosting to a brief switch from ABC to Disney+, DWTS has struggled to regain its footing.

Although Dancing With The Stars season 34 has had its hiccups over the first few weeks, the surprising eliminations make it even more clear that DWTS is finally rebounding from its difficult stretch. After rediscovering its identity with Alfonso Ribero and Julianne Hough as co-hosts, Dancing With The Stars is back to bringing its signature shocks to viewers alongside its stunning steps.

Dancing With The Stars airs Tuesdays at 8 p.m. EDT on ABC.
