Down in Kissimmee, Florida, a small act of compassion melted hearts across the country. A dog had been hit by a car and was lying on the side of the road, cold, wet, and unable to move. Osceola County Deputy Josh Fiorelli happened to be driving by when he saw her. He immediately stopped, called for help, and sat down beside the injured dog.

Some animals get scared when they’re hurt, but this sweet girl seemed to understand that Josh was there to help. He gently petted her and then took off his jacket, wrapping it around her to keep her warm on that chilly morning.

“She didn’t have anyone there, so I decided to be that person,” Josh said.

The dog was later treated for a dislocated leg and is expected to recover. A passerby named Carlos Irizzary snapped a photo of Josh sitting beside her and shared it online. That simple picture of kindness went viral, reaching people all over the country.

The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office later posted it too, writing, “Thank you Deputy Fiorelli for serving with care and compassion.”

Sometimes, it only takes one person’s warmth to remind us what true humanity looks like. ❤️
