I found him on the street, sitting alone on the curb. He was trembling, eyes wide open, alert to every sound—as if ready to run at any moment. I approached gently, careful not to scare him. He didn’t run… but he didn’t come closer either. He just froze. As if too tired to be afraid anymore.
So I waited. I spoke softly. And after a while, he followed me.
Now he’s sitting in the car, still tense, unsure of what’s happening. He doesn’t know yet that he doesn’t have to be afraid anymore.
I’m taking him home. I’ll give him a warm space, and time—time to feel safe, to heal, to learn what love feels like.
