I had just dropped my kids off at daycare for the day when my car battery died. With my husband’s car recently fixed and our savings gone, I was worried. Roadside assistance got my car started, and I drove to the nearest battery shop. The guy behind the counter showed me different options, and I had to choose the cheapest one. As we talked, we realized we had a lot in common—both of us worked in childcare and had multiple kids. When I went to pay, he looked at me and said, “I know how hard it is to work in childcare while raising your own kids. You’re doing an amazing job.” He then gave me a $25 discount on the battery. His kindness was genuine and truly heartwarming. It was a simple act, but it meant so much.
