In a town in Alabama, a local marathon began like any other — except a stray hound named Ludivine joined the runners at the start line. She wasn’t registered, didn’t have an owner present, and had never run a race. But she kept pace with the runners for 13.1 miles, stopping occasionally to sniff things or play with cows.
Ludivine crossed the finish line in 7th place. The town gave her a medal, and she became the race’s official mascot from that year forward.
