American Idol season 1 winner Kelly Clarkson has postponed the remainder of her August Las Vegas residency shows due to a family emergency. Kelly won American Idol season 1 in 2002, and has since gone on to become one of the most beloved, popular, and successful contestants of all-time.
Kelly’s Las Vegas residency is called Kelly Clarkson: Studio Sessions, and it kicked off on July 11 and is scheduled to run until November 15 at the Colosseum at Caesar’s Palace. It will consist of 18 shows. Just hours before Kelly’s opening night on July 4, she announced that she had to postpone the first two concerts because she needed to rest her voice after intense rehearsals.
In an Instagram post, Kelly announced that she had to postpone the remainder of her August Las Vegas residency dates because her ex-husband and the father of her two children, Brandon Blackstock, is ill. She wrote, “Unfortunately, I need to postpone the remainder of the August Studio Session dates in Las Vegas.”
Kelly continued, “While I normally keep my personal life private, this past year, my children’s father has been ill and at this moment, I need to be fully present for them.”
Kelly concluded by saying, “I am sincerely sorry to everyone who bought tickets to the shows and I so appreciate your grace, kindness and understanding.”
The comments section of Kelly’s post was filled with words of support from her friends and fans, who praised her for putting her family first.
What Kelly Clarkson Postponing Las Vegas Residency Means
Kelly Makes Her Children Her Number One Priority
Nothing is more important to Kelly than her children, River Rose, 10, and Remington “Remy” Alexander, 8, and it’s beautiful to see her putting them first during their time of need. In addition, although nothing has been confirmed, Brandon’s illness might’ve been the reason behind Kelly’s mysterious absence from her talk show, The Kelly Clarkson Show, earlier this year.
Although Kelly is very much in the public eye, she does like to keep her personal life private. However, in this moment, she must’ve felt that she owed her fans who were attending her August concerts an explanation for the postponement. It’s good to see that fans are supporting Kelly through this difficult time by being patient and understanding with her.
Our Take On Kelly Clarkson’s Concert Postponements
Kelly Is A Wonderful Mother
Although some fans might be disappointed that Kelly had to postpone her Las Vegas residency dates, they need to understand that she’s a mother first, and she’ll rightfully always put her children’s well-being above everything else. Kelly has always been a consummate professional ever since her American Idol days, so it must be hurting her to have to postpone these dates. It’s a sad situation for everyone involved.
The fact that the American Idol winner has been quietly dealing with her ex-husband’s illness for the past year must’ve been so hard for her. Brandon is wished all the best for a full recovery, and we’re sending love and light to Kelly and her children as well at this difficult time.
