Mookie Betts’ shortstop belief never wavered

MILWAUKEE — Mookie Betts told The Post he never doubted he could switch from the outfield to become a stellar shortstop.

“I knew I could do it. There was no doubt about it. I just had to learn how to do it,” Betts said.

Both New York teams missed out on Blake Snell, who dominated the Brewers in Game of the NL Championship Series, lowering his ERA this postseason to 0.86 and raising his record to 3-0.

Two winters ago, with the qualifying offer a concern, the Yankees floated a $105M, five-year deal with big deferrals that Snell turned down before signing for $62M over two years with an opt-out with the Giants. Then last winter, the Yankees held a Zoom call with Snell only to see him sign a day later with the Dodgers for $182M over five years.
