My son is a quadriplegic and drives a specially modified van. This morning, when he tried to leave in his van, the front driver’s side tire fell off! All the lug nuts were gone, and the rim and tire were damaged.
It turns out someone probably tried to steal the tire during the night, but since the van is modified, a regular jack didn’t work, so they left it like that. This kind of thing is frustrating for anyone—but when you’re paralyzed, use a wheelchair, and rely on your van to get around, it’s a much bigger deal.
After calling around, we finally found a towing company that could help right away. Jason from On Time Towing in Richmond, VA showed up with a flatbed tow truck and went above and beyond for my son.
Because the van has a lowered floor, he had to get creative just to get a jack under it. He carefully rigged a way to pull the van partway onto the truck bed so he could lift it enough to work on the wheel.
Once he checked and saw the hub assembly wasn’t damaged, Jason offered to put on the spare tire so the van didn’t even need to be towed. It was very hot and humid that day, but Jason didn’t stop. Thanks to him, my son was able to drive himself to an important event that evening and will go to the shop on Monday.
Jason, you truly saved the day. Thank you so much—you rock! 🙌
