Now that I am a seasoned parent of teenagers, I’m going back to the old school way that my dad made sure I made it home by curfew: an alarm clock.
Before the days of technologically tracking your child, he would set an alarm clock for my curfew – and this is key, AFTER I left the house – and I had to make it home in time for my curfew to turn it off, or it would wake him up and he would know something was amiss. It also let my dad go to sleep knowing he would be woken up if something was wrong.
So now we do it with our high school senior. He’s never missed turning it off it yet. Sometimes old ways are the best ways.
