Paul Jenkinson, a 70-year-old retired social worker from Nova Scotia, is traveling across Canada with two chairs and a folding table. He also carries a sign that reads: “You are not alone. I will listen.”
+
He offers his listening services completely free of charge to anyone who wants to talk. With decades of experience as a registered social worker, Paul brings professional skills to these conversations. He has also faced personal challenges, including physical pain, divorce, and the loss of his daughter.
+
“I’m there as a fellow human to make connections,” Paul commented. “I just create that safe space for them, a little bit like the stranger on the airplane that you’re never going to see again.”
+
Paul accepts small donations only to keep gas in his car. Currently touring Nova Scotia, he plans to visit P.E.I. next before heading west to spend winter in British Columbia.
