“People only see the public face of law enforcement: writing tickets and making arrests. But there’s so much more.

They come home, and this is what we see. These are the burdens they carry at the end of every shift.

It’s your partner throwing up from the lingering smell of a burning body after being the first on the scene and unable to help.

And it’s not just this one incident. It’s delivering a death notification alone; it’s holding a heartbroken mother after telling her her son is gone.

It’s being covered in fire ant bites from wrestling a drug addict on the highway to keep him from being hit by a car.

Remember, they’re more than just the uniform. They’re human. They have emotions and families.

And what do they do? They sleep, wake up, and do it all again. Because they want to protect you and your community.

If this isn’t heroic, I don’t know what is.”
