Someone knocked on our little shack’s door today. It was an older lady, probably in her late 70s, who came to tell me what my boys, aged 8 and 10, had done.
I wasn’t surprised they helped without thinking twice when they saw someone in trouble. The sweet lady told me her car and small yacht trailer got stuck in the sand on the beach while she was trying to launch her yacht. She had been stuck there for hours. She said sailing makes her feel close to her late husband, so she keeps doing it even at her age. Bless her heart.
My boys used the shovel she had to dig her out. Then they got a car from the road to come down and pull her car and trailer free. My oldest son carefully hooked up the tow rope and guided the other driver to make sure everything was safe.
