This is Samantha, or Sammi. For the first 6 years of her life, she lived in a crate outdoors, no matter the weather. If she barked, her owner would spray her with a garden hose. When we adopted her, she was terrified and would bite people. She had no social skills and spent most of her time lying in her bed, barely eating.
We started to show her love and affection, picking her up, sitting her on our laps, speaking to her softly, kissing her, and holding her close. We also took her to places like PetSmart, Petco, Home Depot, and Lowe’s, placing her in a cart so she could observe people and begin to trust.
Today, Sammi loves having visitors and always insists on sitting in their laps. We are so happy she’s part of our family, and we love her more than words can express.
