We brought this little guy home after he was found abandoned in a rental house. The tenants were evicted and walked away from everything… including him. Alone. Scared. Left behind like he didn’t matter.
When the rescue reached out, I didn’t even think twice. We already had a fawn Doberman and a Rottie at home, both gentle giants, and I wasn’t sure how they’d react to such a tiny newcomer. But the moment Fitzgerald waddled into our lives, it was like the missing piece had finally clicked into place.
Even with everything he’s been through, his heart stayed wide open. He trails me everywhere I go. From the kitchen to the living room, out in the yard, back inside again… he’s never more than a few steps away. His round little eyes follow me like I’m his whole world.
And the big dogs? They welcomed him like he had always belonged. Our Doberman shares his toys with him. The Rottie lets him curl up against his chest for long afternoon naps. It’s like they understood he needed a family.
At night Fitzgerald burrows under the covers until his tiny head is tucked under my chin. I still can’t wrap my mind around how someone could walk away from a soul this sweet.
We named him Fitzgerald because it felt like a name meant for a survivor. He will never be left behind again. He’s home now. And our pack feels complete in the most beautiful way.
