Yes, that’s legendary rock star Jon Bon Jovi washing dishes in a restaurant kitchen. In 2011, he opened a community restaurant called JBJ Soul Kitchen in Red Bank, NJ. The mission is simple. He wanted to feed people with dignity, no prices and no judgment. Just a warm meal in exchange for a donation or a helping hand.
Everything was going great until 2020 came around. Dining rooms were closed and fear spread around the world. But the need didn’t stop and neither did Soul Kitchen. Even with reduced hours and a limited menu, demand skyrocketed.
So Jon Bon Jovi did what he could. He stepped into the kitchen, grabbed a sponge, and washed dishes. He said, “If you can’t do what you normally do, then do what you can.”
There are a lot of people who don’t know where their next meal is coming from. It’s important to always look out for those who are less fortunate than you. Even though Jon Bon Jovi has sold over 130 million records worldwide, he never forgot where he came from. He gave back to his community and that’s what matters most.
