Yesterday, during my Daddy’s funeral procession led by the United States Marine Corps, my family noticed something that touched us deeply. On the side of the road, a man had pulled over. He stood with his hat in his hand and his other hand placed over his heart, honoring my father and our family as we passed by.
While many other cars simply continued on with their day, his quiet act of respect moved not only my family but everyone in the procession. From his license plate, my daughter was able to find out who he was. His name is Ernest Boerlin, a proud veteran of the US Navy.
When I reached out to thank him, he humbly replied:
“It was an honor to show my respect for a fellow serviceman and their family. Please accept my prayers and condolences to you and your family for your loss. Fair winds and following seas. God bless.”
Thank you, Ernest. Your kindness and respect meant more to us than words can say. May God bless you and your family as well.
Let’s all take a moment to thank Ernest for his service and show him some love. ❤
